Thank you Daniel, I will take some better pictures in daylight. I have looked all over but the only label is the small size label in the collar. I was very pleased to get this from Dave and it was a surprise to see that he had 2 pairs of EA trousers and a lot of other stuff including a helmet from Mount Longdon

I was given this INFANTERIA DE MARINA 100 years centenary medal recently. It is part of a large collection of items that was brought back from the islands. It is rather crudely made, but I would assume that these were made for the serving conscripts in 1979.

A new addition to my collection, an IMARA jacket picked up just south of the airfield at Stanley. The print is very slightly different to all the other IMARA jackets I have and the placement of the pockets at the bottom is very low.. Could this be a Mellor made jacket?

Este es un casco de acero con patrón de British Royal Armored Corps / Royal marines que ha tenido una pieza de material ERDL dominante verde lima IMARA cosido en la cubierta del casco y un lugar de red verde sobre él. Lo acabo de recibir de un veterano británico que compró una camisa cerca de Stanley para usarla como cubierta de camuflaje.

This is a British Royal Armoured Corps/ Royal marines pattern steel helmet that has had a peice of IMARA Lime Green dominant ERDL material sewn into a helmet cover and a green net place over it. I have just recieved it from a British Veteran who picked up a shirt near Stanley to use as the camouflage cover.

In England we have a saying ' you wait for a bus for ages, then two come along at once' . And so it is for my EA ERDL trousers. Both pairs were collected in Stanley along with a multitude of other stuff. The IMARA jacket was found along with the trousers and from the pattern of cut I would hazard that this is indeed a Mellor made jacket. I will take better pictures in the natural daylight tomorrow. they appear to be two different patterns and design
Both pairs have had the waists made smaller with stitching and one pair has had the legs narrowed. Both show extensive signs of use, with many buttons having been re-sewn.

I will open a separate link for the helmet tomorrow. A British RAC/Royal Marines pattern steel helmet with a home made lime green IMARA ERDL cover

On your IMARA rucksack, the webbing is thicker and catches well against the buckle, on the command bag the material is very thin and with a little pressure comes loose and slides out. A very poor design of sliding buckle in my opinion Jeb

It is only a suggestion, but the command folders has the same clips as the Tempex bolsa de rancho, so unless it is slung at the rear of the wearer the clips would not work. If you sling it on the belt with the metal clips by the hip, it puts lots of strain on the clips which will break them off the bag with any prolonged use. If you use the central metal loop with a tempex strap around the belt, the bag can swing freely and will not cause any damage to the bag or discomfort to the wearer. It seems sensible especially as the other map/documents cases have flexible double hangers which allow them to be worn on the hip. What are your thoughts on this theory?

Para continuar con la publicación de HHD, acabo de recibir una carpeta de comandos completa que ha tenido un uso muy limitado. No sé su procedencia, pero lo acabo de comprar a un vendedor en el UK. La correa de transporte larga está cosida en un lado y el otro extremo pasa a través de una hebilla de metal, idéntica a las hebillas que tengo en las correas de equipo 'tempex' traídas del conflicto. Como dice HHD, no hay marcas o detalles de identificación para decir definitivamente que fue hecho por Monocrom. Lo único que está marcado son los pequeños botones de presión de plástico. Marcado IND ARG 16 COLLOKY M.2

To follow on from HHD's post, I have just received a complete command folder that had seen very limited use. I do not know it's provenance but I have just purchased it from a seller in UK. The long carrying strap is sewn on one side and the far end passes through a metal buckle, identical to buckles I have on 'tempex' equipment straps brought back from the conflict. As HHD says there are no markings or identifying details to definitively say that it was made by Monocrom. The only thing that is marked are the small plastic press studs. Marked IND ARG 16 COLLOKY M.2

A couple of differences, no rivets in the back and the velcro is sewn slightly differently

Hola Pilum2, The main helmets in use in 82 were the MKIV (turtle) helmet that most of the corps and supporting arms wore (all the pictures of the the Ghurkas see this type of helmet). Then there was the so called M76 para helmet that offered no ballistic protection as it was made for parachuting only (most of these are seen with the green vinyl straps but some of the more experienced paras replaced these with the old tan para webbing straps) Made with glass reinforced plastic. There was the MK11 metal para helmets that are often mistaken for the RAC/Royal Navy MK2's that have a push in liner and a single elasticated chintrap. The marine pattern MK2's have a different liner. Then finally there was the experimental ballistic MK6 Troop Trials Helmet that had a different liner than the adopted MK6 and had a single chinstrap with a black plastic chin cup. (Not many were used and many were ditched early on as they kept falling over the wearers eyes or falling off). The only pictures I have seen of these were worn by Royal Artillery. 59 Cdo RA would have worn the metal AFV/RAC/Royal Navy MK2 or for the 'old and bold' a metal MK11 para helmet if they could get hold of them.

Yes the helmet is a front seam, swivel bale McChord and the liner is a refurbished WW2 Firestone. The other picture I added was of an EA PM with a white liner and Monocrom suspension system. There are pictures of ARA sailors with this system. I rememeber one of the sailors that fought in South Georgia being pictured in the Argentine press wearing one and I have seen a picture of a Prefecture sailor wearing one.

Your original photo showed the officer with ripped camouflage pants, the same officer on the left and the dark green belt, not tempex.

Un clásico 'gaban' de satén que fue recuperado por un miembro del Escuadrón Aéreo Naval 846 de Stanley en 1982 de un cesto lleno de chaquetas nuevas aún en su envoltorio. Lo ha usado durante un tiempo ya que es una buena chaqueta funcional. No tiene más etiquetas que el sello de tamaño 48M. Rod era parte de la Base de Reabastecimiento Avanzada 846, cuya función era reabastecer de combustible a todos los helicópteros, pero principalmente a sus propios Sea King MK4.

A new addition to my collection.
A classic sateen 'gaban' that was recovered by a member of Naval Air Squadron 846 from Stanley in 1982 from a hamper full of brand new jackets still in their wrapping. He has worn it for a while as it is a good functional jacket. It has no labels other than the size stamp 48M. Rod was part of the 846 Forward Refuelling Base whose role was to refuel all helicoptors but mainly their own Sea King MK4's.
