hi Tug, why do you think that a relic in a collectors' hands would be "lost forever"? I have a helmet from the islands and its far away from being lost for ever, in fact I've spent months trying to locate the soldier who wore it in 1982.
things will be lost if we leave them there, exposed to the elements and in 10-20 years they will be really gone for ever and their geographical and historical positions also lost.
Its impossible leave things on the battlefield, life goes on and I'm sure the kelpers don't want them in their fields and beautiful landscapes either.
Just imagine if France would leave everything on their battlefields...
I don't consider myself a collector, but I know I will take care of my helmet better than rain, cold and snow.
cheers!
saludos!
